Collaboration Story
In 1982, while studying film at New York University, Karen Bystedt photographed Andy Warhol in New York. Those intimate portraits later became the foundation of The Lost Warhols. In 2023, Shepard Fairey reinterpreted Bystedt’s original Warhol photography through his distinctive graphic language, creating the Warhol Collages collaboration. The project brings together Bystedt’s photographic archive and Fairey’s contemporary visual vocabulary in a dialogue across generations of art and popular culture.
